Why this blog

This is a place I'm going to use to write notes about books and articles -- mostly philosophy books and articles -- that I'm reading.

The idea is that, instead of forgetting ideas that I have while reading, and instead of later having to decipher illegible margin notes, I'll have a record of what I've read, and what I've thought while reading what I've read.

I'm making that record of my notes a blog, rather than a file on my computer, because the idea of someone else reading what I've written is a spur to writing a little more sapiently.
